eConsult is a new and improved way of communicating with GPs and Admin Staff via your smart phone/tablet or through the internet. If you are needing to speak to a GP for advice, request a sick note, general admin advice you can do this without ringing the surgery by completing an online form which is available for 24 hours, 7 days a week. This is to make the surgery more accessible to our patients.



About Us

The doctors and staff at the Brooklyn Medical Practice in Heanor are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.  We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the additional menu of our website. Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like.

The practice is located at the bottom of Mansfield Road. There is a car park adjacent, which is shared with a branch of Peak Pharmacy.

There is access to the practice for wheelchairs, and lift access to the first floor consulting rooms.



Patient Notice:

Thank you all for your support for us at Brooklyn Medical Practice as we respond to the corona virus pandemic. We have made huge changes to all aspects of how we work, and our staff have been fantastic in working with us through these. We are trying to maintain as much of our service as we can, whilst playing our part in protecting the more vulnerable in our community.

We are using far more technology such as video consultations when clinically helpful, to ensure we are not unnecessarily putting patients at risk by bringing them in. Please ensure we always have up to date mobile phone numbers if available.

When safe to do so, we continue to provide childhood immunisations and other essential injections, dressings where essential, priority cervical smears, and other activities the GPs deem important. All long-term conditions reviews will now be performed by telephone, whilst we have capacity to do so. As you will understand this is under continuous review. We know this is not ideal but it is the best we can safely do for now.

All medications will be updated when needed, even if the routine reviews have not taken place.

Some other brief points (in line with national advice)


  • We will not be issuing prescriptions for simple medications like paracetamol, unless it was already on repeat prescription.
  • We will not be giving bigger supplies of medication because of this crisis. If we did this would result in significant supply problems for our colleagues in pharmacies.


Looking further ahead as to what may happen, we have been working with our neighbouring 8 GP practices so that we help each other to continue to provide a service to our shared populations. We will continue to make our plans, and enact them if and when required.

Finally, we have really appreciated the support that you have continued to give us. This really makes a difference to all of us who work at the practice, and we will of course strive to look after all those who need us.



Appointment Information:

In light of the evolving coronavirus pandemic and in line with national guidance, Brooklyn Medical Practice has moved to a telephone appointment only system. Please do not come down to the surgery if you do not have an appointment.

Please note, the telephone appointment is replacing the face to face appointments. These appointments are still a 10 minute slot so that the GPs can offer sufficient appointments for the needs of our patients.

We apologise for the inconvenience, but this is essential to minimise social contact and ensure the safety of all of our patients and that of our staff.

CQC annual regulatory review 22 May 2019

“We reviewed the information available to us about Brooklyn Medical Practice on 22 May 2019. We did not find evidence of significant changes to the quality of service being provided since the last inspection. As a result, we decided not to inspect the surgery at this time. We will continue to monitor this information about this service throughout the year and may inspect the surgery when we see evidence of potential changes.”
