Latest News (click title to open):

We have been informed by the NHS that all primary care and community testing must be halted until September 17, 2021, except for clinically urgent testing. Examples of clinically urgent testing include:

· Bloods that are required to facilitate a two week wait (suspected cancer) referral

· Bloods that are extremely overdue and/or essential for safe prescribing of medication or monitoring of condition

· Bloods that if taken could avoid a hospital admission or prevent an onward referral

· Those with suspected sepsis or conditions with a risk of death or disability

We are advised that all booked appointments from August 31, 2021 until September 17, 2021 have been cancelled. Unfortunately, this includes appointments for clinically urgent blood tests as there is no easy way for those running the clinic to identify such requests.

If you are in one of the above clinically urgent categories, you will need to contact us so that we can authorise an urgent blood test appointment. Please note the phone lines are already extremely busy therefore please bear with us.

If you are not in one of the above categories, we kindly ask that you do not contact us unless you feel it is URGENT. We would advise you to rebook your blood test appointment when they again become available. More information can be found on this government supply disruption alert .

Many thanks

Brooklyn Medical Practice

eConsult is a new and improved way of communicating with GPs and Admin Staff via your smart phone/tablet or through the internet. If you are needing to speak to a GP for advice, request a sick note, general admin advice you can do this without ringing the surgery by completing an online form which is available from 6am on Monday to Friday until 6pm. This is to make the surgery more accessible to our patients. This is monitored under the hours stated above, with staff assessing the needs. At the end of the form it will give you a time frame of when someone will be in touch with you; this may not necessarily be a GP appointment in the first instance but might be a member of our admin team contacting you with a suitable appointment based on your needs.

Patient Notice:

Thank you all for your support for us at Brooklyn Medical Practice as we continue to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. We have made huge changes to all aspects of how we work, and our staff have been fantastic in working with us through these. We are gradually opening up our services, whilst still trying to protect the more vulnerable in our community as well as our staff.

We are using far more technology such as video consultations when clinically helpful, to ensure we are not unnecessarily putting patients at risk by bringing them in. Please ensure we always have up to date mobile phone numbers if available.

We continue to provide childhood immunisations and other essential injections, dressings where essential, cervical smears, and other clinical activities the GPs deem important.

We have a new system in place for long-term conditions reviews, and are sending out a pre-review questionnaire to patients (electronically or letter) and this will be followed up by a telephone review or face-to-face review where appropriate with the nurse. This is under continuous review and seems to be working well, and keeping patients safe.

Some other brief points (in line with national advice)

  • We will not be issuing prescriptions for simple medications like paracetamol, unless it was already on repeat prescription.
  • We will not be giving bigger supplies of medication because of this crisis. If we did this would result in significant supply problems for our colleagues in pharmacies.

Finally, we have really appreciated the support that you have continued to give us. This really makes a difference to all of us who work at the practice, and we will of course strive to look after all those who need us.

We are currently asking patients for 72 hours notice in order for us to issue prescriptions.

Our latest CQC Report:
